A Qatari national of Sudanese origin, Jamal Nasser, who worked in the Qatari army, said he had been in a crisis since 1999 because of his expulsion from Doha, leaving his wife and only son there, Nasser is calling for an intervention and an end to his crisis.
Nasser told his struggle with Qatari authorities and the injustice he suffered. He said he was accused among others in the coup attempt against Hamad bin Khalifa in February 1996 and was acquitted by the Doha Court of Justice.
He described the accusations against him as false and offensive, his Qatari passport was withdrawn, then he returned to Sudan with a travel document from the Sudanese embassy in Doha.
Nasser pointed out that the late Sudanese President Jaafar Nimeiri had agreed that he retained his Sudanese citizenship along with the Qatari citizenship.
Nasser’s crisis began when he resigned in 1996 for the end of his contract before it was rejected by the Minister of State at the Ministry of Defense, then Abdullah bin Hamad. After six months of his resignation, the coup attempt occurred, and he was falsely accused of participating in it.
He added: “Since then, I have knocked all the doors to reach a solution to my crisis and resorted to the Qatari embassy in Khartoum several times with all the required documents, but I did not find an adequate response.”
Nasser said that he participated in the Qatar national team in a number of world and regional championships in athletics, and he praised a number of titles and medals since 1983 to 1996.
