Ahmad Muaffaq Zidan is a Syrian journalist recruited by Qatar. He headed Al Jazeera’s office in Pakistan until 2015. Recently, the CIA exposed his affiliation to Al-Qaeda.
Zidan was known for his strong relations with Al Nusra Front, Al-Qaeda's branch in Syria. He secured Al-Julani’s interviews on Al Jazeera.
Abbottabad documents exposed his relation with Al-Qaeda; Zidan covered Afghanistan War and met Bin Laden. Al-Qaeda’s leader asked him to send Qatari curricula to teach them to his children.
In the tenth anniversary of 9/11 attacks, he was ordered to prepare a documentary. Al Jazeera reporter oversaw a documentary on Bin Laden and his terrorist group, included interviews with Taliban leaders to defend bloody attacks.
Washington listed him a terrorist, so he fled to Doha and Hamadein appointed him at Al Jazeera Center for Studies, just as usual.
