Britain's former ambassador to Damascus, Peter Ford, revealed that all Arab countries except Qatar are ready today to accept Syria's return to the League of Arab States, stressing that Doha has supported the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria for years.
In an interview with the Russian agency "RIA Novosti" on Saturday, Ford said, “I think that all Arab countries are ready today to accept the return of Syria, perhaps with the exception of Qatar, which supported the Muslim Brotherhood over the years and runs a provocative campaign against the Syrian government.”
The former diplomat said that Syria's return to the Arab League would not satisfy Doha because of its funding for militants in Idlib, adding that Qatar's opposition would not prevent other Gulf states from resuming ties with Damascus.
