Qatar and Israel.. A history of suspicious deals

  • Qatar allies with Israel as their plans and goals are the same; both of them aim to divide the Arab countries and make Israel the only power in the region

Many reports and statements of officials in Qatar and Israel reflect how powerful and solid is the relation between them economically and politically, beside coordination in the international forums as Qatar is one of the biggest countries investing in Israel and extremely open to it.

The former head of the Israeli Mossad, Tamir Pardo, said last March that Qatar had played a historic role in favor of the Zionist entity. That may be a perfect evidence on that.

Doha has lots of faces; one sympathies with the nation’s cases by sweet talk broadcasted on its channels, especially Al Jazeera, and another face works in secret in supporting terrorists and destabilizing the region, beside extremely opening to the Arab’s first enemy Israel.

Economic normalizing

Economic may be a perfect proof of Qatar’s harness its wealth to provide housing, treatment and welfare to Israel, as it carried out several investment contracts in the field of construction, including constructing the Doha Municipal Stadium inside the Zionist entity in May 2013, at a cost of $6 million from Qataris’ money.

The Qatari government also invested millions of dollars in the Hadassah hospital in Israel. Hamad bin Jassim, the former prime minister of Qatar, also supervised the new electronic cooperation with the Zionist entity.

The Egyptian newspaper “Al-Ahram” reports that the former emir of Qatar Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani paid billions of dollars to build new settlements in Israel and had strong relations with members of AIPAC, the strongest pressure groups in the US Congress which plays a prominent role to apply American support for Israel.

Hamad called for lifting the economic blockade of the Zionist entity when the Arabs decided to boycott economically. Doha was the first Arab capital to open a trade representation office for Israel in 1996, during the visit of Prime Minister Shimon Peres to Doha, where he was received by the former Emir Hamad bin Khalifa, who gave him a sword of gold.

The Zionist entity also participated in the economic conference which was held in Doha in 1997 and signed a memorandum of understanding to negotiate on exporting Qatar’s natural gas to Israel.

The coordination and mutual visits

With regard to the coordination and exchanging political views, officials of the two sides kept exchanging visits to determine a unified opinion on many issues. The secret visit by the former emir of Qatar Hamad Bin Khalifa to Tel Aviv in 2009 may be the best evidence and proof on this coordination, as well as the systematic meetings of the former Foreign Minister of Qatar Hamad Bin Jassim to Tel Aviv, which is usually punctuated by signing agreements with Israeli companies to transfer technology to Doha.

The suspect's cooperation between Qatar and Israel was evidenced, and both sides did not even try to hide it, when smuggling Yemeni Jews to Tel Aviv, when Doha was used as a transit to pass the fugitives. In 2012, Qatar voted (No) so that Palestine would not be an observer in the UN.

Facilitating military support

As for the military, it’s well-known that the Qatari government supports the Israeli occupation army indirectly. While Al Jazeera played a prominent role in inciting Arabs to their political systems as they failed to support Gaza and Palestine after Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert committed the crime of bombing Gaza, Doha did not hesitate to allow US aircraft at Al-Qadir base to transfer arms and ammunition used by the Israeli army to kill Palestinian children in Gaza.

Qatar and Israel have also signed a number of arms deals, including Qatar's agreement to buy a short-range missile interceptor system called “Iron Dome” and developed by Israel's Rafael.

The Qatari government also agreed to purchase US F-15 equipped with two pilots’ helmets from the Elbit industry, reflecting the volume of cooperation and coordination between Qatar and Israel in various fields.

Normalizing sports

Sports activity in Qatar is another reflection to the warm relation between Doha and Tel Aviv, as the Israeli volleyball team took part in the Qatar Open Beach Tour in April 2016. The two Israeli players Sean Feiga and Ariel Hilman landed at Doha airport after receiving a visa to Qatar in recent days, allowing them to participate in the World Championship. Their participation in the tournament remained secret for the last moment.

The Israeli delegation, which landed at Hamad International Airport in Doha, along with the players, included the president of the Israel Volleyball Federation Yaniv Neyman and coach Shaked Haemi. The Israeli public radio quoted the director of the Volleyball Association Nayyip Neuman, as saying that the participation of the Israeli team in the tournament came after Doha Basketball Association and its Olympic Committee’s approval, and there was tight guard around the sports mission’s members  who were "very welcomed" in Qatar.

The Israeli volleyball team participation in Doha wasn’t the first time athletes from the Zionist entity take part in sport competitions in Qatar; in 2008 the Israeli tennis player Shahar Pe'er took part in Qatar Open Tennis tournament. These participation repeated in 2012 and 2013 when an Israeli swimming team took part in sport competitions in Doha.

This came in line with Qatar's stated position of hosting the Zionist entity, if participating in the 2022 World Cup, when Hassan Abdullah Al-Thawadi, the Executive Director of the Qatar campaign to host the 2022 World Cup, said that his country has no objection to host Israel if it qualified for the World Cup in the Gulf country.
