Qatar launches app to teach “New Qataris” Qatari Arabic

Qatar has launched a new smartphone app to help foreigners learn Qatari Arabic. 

The “Qatari Phrasebook” app aims to teach users who do not speak Arabic how to pronounce 1500 Arabic words in the Qatari accent. 

Tamim Bin Hamad has welcomed thousands of foreigners to Qatar, some of them naturalized, who have trouble communicating in Arabic. 

Facing rejection by his own people, it seems that Tamim is looking for support from the “new Qataris” his administration has been importing.
