At a time of deepening intimacy between Qatar and Iran, Iranian officials have found no escape from recognizing the undeniable fact that Qatar is the first supporter of terrorism in the Arab world, a fact that Iran's Intelligence Minister, Mahmoud Alavi, couldn’t deny since he is certain of Doha's dependence on Tehran, so there will be no expected Qatari reactions.
Alavi said during a seminar on "Terrorism, Extremism and Regional Security in West Asia" hosted by Tehran on Tuesday, that Qatar supports some terrorist groups in the region, pointing out that the terrorist group in Egypt is the root of terrorism in the Islamic world.
However, he did not mention that the Egyptian government is taking tight security measures to besiege the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood , which moved most of its leaders to Doha where they’re sponsored by Tamim Bin Hamad .
He added, "The motivation to revive the caliphate led to various movements, including the push to find terrorist armed movements." He pointed out that "ISIS is still a supporter of weapons despite its elimination from Iraq, now they look forward to go to Afghanistan, Pakistan and Central Asia”.
Qatar is well known for its ties with Al Qaeda, ISIS and Al Nusra Front , but the Iranian official preferred not to embarrass his country's new ally any further.
Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain cut off diplomatic ties with Qatar on June 5 because of Qatar's support for terrorism, harboring extremists and engaging in plans to spread chaos within the region.
