Counter Extremism Project (CEP) said that Qatar is the largest country finances terrorism in the world. It stressed in its latest reports that Qatar’s regime seeks undermining regional and international security. Qatar still provides direct financial and logistical support to internationally-designated terrorist groups.
That report, entitled “Qatar, Money, and Terror.. Doha’s dangerous policies”, monitored diverse aspects of the Qatari support of terrorism in the world depending on Qatar’s relation with Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, as a part of Doha's strategy to support the different terror groups.
It also monitored Hamadien’s relation with Al Qaeda since 2010 and Qatar’s government donation $1.2 million for rebuilding Sheikh Abd al-Wahhab Muhammad al-Humayqani mosque that considers one of the most well known Al Qaeda financers in Yemen according to the US Treasury Department.
Throughout 2012 and 2013, Qatar paid Al Qaeda millions of dollars as ransoms in exchange for releasing many kidnapped people. Those funds contributed basically in empowering Al Qaeda to build its network and controlling some regions in south Yemen, CEP revealed.
