Samuel Ramani, the International relations researcher at Oxford University, spoke on the Qatari stance in Yemen. Qatar has welcomed the US role and UN negotiations aiming at a ceasefire in Yemen but Doha's action shouldn’t obfuscate the fact that it supports the Houthi coup.
Qatar exploits political instability in Yemen to back Iran's expansionist agenda, Hamad Bin Khalifa had mediated in a shady agreement between Houthis and Abdullah Saleh in 2008 and Tamim has worked on hindering the Arab alliance's activities by cooperating with Houthis.
The emir has given a controversial aid worth $20 mil to areas controlled by Houthi usurpers who use revenues from occupied areas to fund military operations.
Qatar's media platforms have generally ignored Houthis losses in Hudaida and turned it into a humanitarian crisis with a PR campaign against the Arab alliance to instate a ceasefire, which will allow Houthis to better their status and wage war again with more strength.
