Qatari sectors have failed to overcome the boycott, Qatar Airways is suffering heavy losses portending a nigh end.
Contradictory statements by Qatari officials betray the collapse facing Qatari companies, the Qatari carrier tried to expand its projects in Africa to stop the bleeding before declaring its failure in its endeavour.
Qatar Airways announced plans to expand in western and middle Africa, acknowledging losses caused by boycott negatively impacted the company. CEO Akbar Al-Baker tried to obfuscate signs of collapse and claimed Qatar Airways will continue with expansion plans while promoting more trips to Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa. He has nothing but lies to save the company's reputation.
Qatar Airways is also facing corruption lawsuits before US courts, it has incurred $70 mil in losses in 2018 after losing 11% of its network after the boycott states shut down airspace. The boycott increased the period of some trips up to 3 hours raising fuel consumption which contributed to more costs and forcing it to cancel 19 destinations and 18 daily trips.
Qatar Airways is forced to offer discounts to stimulate revenues amid the Arab boycott, Business traveler reported.
The offer is valid on bookings made until February 18, 2019 for travel from March 1 to December 11, 2019.
