The Muslim Brotherhood Group is a tool in the hands of regimes when it comes to internal and foreign political conflicts. However, Qatar’s relation to the group goes beyond hiring, the mini-state has used all of its resources and compromised its regional position for their sake.
The indisputable evidence for this is Qatar’s huge efforts to build Al Jazeera Channel, which became the media platform for the group to spread their extreme ideas to the world.
Another example of Qatar’s loyalty to the Ikhwan group is the “International Union of Muslim Scholars” based in Doha. A closer look and we can clearly see that this union is highly political in nature and far from religious as it claims.
In a desperate gesture to convince the world of the opposite, Hamad Bin Khalifa intentionally resolved the Ikhwani organization in Qatar shortly after his coup in 1995. This action couldn’t be taken unless the Qatari regime wasn’t in need of an organization, as it became the organization itself.
In his book “Saif Al Islam Gaddafi .. Political Deceit and Irony of Fate”, Libyan judge and writer Mohammed Al Honi mentioned the efforts made by Qatar to convince Saif Al Islam to include Ikhwan’s role in the political landscape in Libya. The advice was that “He cannot rule Libya in the future unless he partnered with Ikhwan. Accordingly, Sheikh Hamad made all the communitcations between the two parties”, said Al Honi.
Saif was eventually convinced, he adopted Ikhwan’s ideology, released them from prisons and “used all his power to compensate them, return their professors back to teaching and often he met with their leaders”.
Al Honi added that Gaddafi Junior decided to appoint Ikwan’s supervisor a Prime Minister, again advised by Qatar, but Gaddafi Senior was suspicious of their intentions.
To conclude, the Muslim Brotherhood failed to win Kings, Presidents and Gulf Emirs. But this is not the case with Qatar, as they almost achieved their Caliphate dream there.
