UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash expressed his doubts on Thursday over Qatar policies in the region and whether it represents the Qatari people, Al Arabiya reported.

In a series of tweets he said: “Qatar’s policy towards Iran, the Houthi and Hezbollah and its justification for renewed old relations with Israel, not defended by the people of Qatar… al Jazeera (the news channel) does not speak on behalf of Qatari citizens, the media, platforms, and electronic flies justify the policies which led Doha to go down this tunnel”.

He questioned what extent the Qatari regime represents its people: “Can anyone convince us that the Qatari citizen supports his government’s following of Tehran? He sympathizes with Hezbollah? and that he stands with the Houthi in his aggression against Yemen? Can anyone convince us that al-Jazeera’s inciting positions in these directions, represent him (the Qatari citizen)?”

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Gargash added: “Is the Qatari interest in Iran’s sovereignty over the Arabian Gulf? Is the interest in enhancing the role of Hezbollah in Syria? Is the interest in the continuation of the Houthi aggression? The picture is clear in the discrepancy between what the government sees and its media and the citizen’s orientation.”

On Wednesday Minister Gragash said that Qatar stance became a mirror for the Houthi aggression and Iran after the liberation of Yemen’s Hodeidah airport, pointing out that al-Jazeera channel became like the Iranian Al Alam TV and Hezbollah’s al-Manar TV.
