A WikiLeaks document revealed a report made in 2015, which predicted Qatar’s economy would bog down within 12 months and suffer for 5 years.
The document is an email includes the report, sent on June 1, 2015 from BMI Research to HackingTeam. The Email’s address is “The Qatar Country Risk Report”.
The email says “Our specialist Country Risk Analysts here at BMI Research have identified a number of business risks that we expect to surface in Qatar over the next 12 months. Using those key findings we have updated our official market outlook in the Qatar Country Risk Report.”
The report says “Qatar's short-term political risk profile remains among the most stable in the region. Despite enjoying little in the way of democratic freedom, Qataris benefit from massive hydrocarbon wealth, spread generously across the country's native population, and enjoy the highest per capita GDP in the world. A small population - and one without much inclination to protest against the government - will keep the country insulated from large-scale public unrest in the immediate term."
